This morning was just a typical morning for this 68 year old. The day started with a twenty minute pre-run warmup. Normally I would run immediately after the warmup, but today was Sunday instead of Saturday.
Why you say is that important. Well, first Sunday is usually laundry day and then food shopping at Trader Joe’s. But because we had to go to a viewing early on Saturday and then do some shopping before my granddaughter’s fifth birthday party I decided to run this morning,
Typically, I like to get to the laundromat early on Sunday before it gets busy. So I warmed up, went and put in the laundry and came back home. I put out food for the birds and squirrels. Then cleaned out the liter boxes for our four cars, took out the trash and recycling. Oh, I did get to sit and read for a few minutes.
Now I don’t need to dry the laundry at the laundromat because only our washer doesn’t work. So I went back and got the wash and then put it in our drier. Now, I was ready to run, and also a little tired.
The Run – Which Way Should I Go?
My plan was to run four miles today. But now that I was slightly tired, I wasn’t to sure if that was going to be the case. I mulled several four mile courses in my head and decided I run the beginning of three four-mile courses. Depending which way I turned at the 1.25 I could run two courses that glhave majors in them or a relatively flat out and back course. My plan was to see how I felt at that point to determine which course I would run.
Well, I ran the first mile in 10 minutes a little faster than I should have run the first mile of a four mile run. When I got to the point where I had to choose hills or no hill.l, I chose hills.
Now this morning’s temperature was fairly low the sun was bright. So when I got to the top of the hill where I had to make another choice between two courses, I chose the course that had the most shade!!
Anyway the hill was the hardest part of the run. The rest of the run was downhill for about a half mile and the it was relatively flat for the remainder of the run. All in all it turned out to be a strong run. Here are the Nerdy details….

The Soundtrack: Don’t Give Up on the Blues – Giles Robson
The soundtrack for the run was Don’t Give Up on the Blues the new album from blues harmonica player Giles Robson. The album is currently number 10 on the Roots Music Reports Top 50 Blues Alums Chart.
The good thing is the album and Robson’s harp sounded great. The bad news I wasn’t paying close attention to the music for the majority of the run.
So all I’ll say is check it out. As for me I know I’ll be listening to the album a lot over the next few days! I’ll let you know more about Giles Robson by the end of the week
